Acoustic Standards & Instrumentation Calibration

High-precision calibration for Sound Level Meters, Microphones, Pistonphones, and Noise Dosimeters to ensure NIST-traceable accuracy.

Odin Metrology was founded by senior experts from the Brüel & Kjær (B&K) western management team , establishing a laboratory rooted in “factory-standard” methodologies that general-purpose labs cannot replicate. We provide the technical rigor required by aerospace, defense, and research facilities , ensuring that your data remains audit-ready and technically beyond reproach.

Comprehensive Acoustic Calibration Capabilities

  • Sound Level Meters (SLM) & Dosimeters: Full acoustic and electrical verification of Class 1 and Class 2 meters. We test frequency response, sensitivity, and linearity to ensure your data meets rigorous regulatory standards.

  • Precision Microphones: Sensitivity and frequency response calibration for 1/8″, 1/4″, 1/2″, and 1″ condenser, pre-polarized, array, and free-field microphones.

  • Acoustic Calibrators & Pistonphones: Absolute verification of Sound Pressure Level (SPL) for pistonphones and solid-state sound level calibrators. Our laboratory references at 251 Hz are maintained with an uncertainty of ±0.05 dB.

  • Specialized Sensors: Comprehensive service for specialized instrumentation including Sound Intensity Probes and Outdoor Noise Monitoring Terminals.

Technical Authority & Compliance

  • NIST-Traceable Certification: Every service includes a calibration certificate documenting an unbroken chain of traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Our measurement uncertainty for acoustics is held to a rigorous ±0.11 dB.

  • The 4:1 Test Uncertainty Ratio (TUR): Odin Metrology engineers procedures to ascertain a minimum 4:1 TUR. If this ratio cannot be fulfilled, the actual calculated uncertainty is explicitly documented for total transparency in quality audits.

  • Strategic Efficiency: We recognize that downtime is a project-killer. Our laboratory modernizations are specifically engineered to minimize turnaround times while maintaining audit-ready documentation.

  • NASA & JPL Validated Accountability: Odin participates in calibration comparisons with the NASA AMAP Metrology Group and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to validate measurement accuracy.

  • methodologies of Brüel & Kjær, our technical authority extends to the entire professional ecosystem, including G.R.A.S., Larson Davis, PCB Piezotronics, and NTI Audio.

Advanced Vibration & Dynamics Calibration

Advanced methodology for the calibration and verification of accelerometers, vibration meters, and excitation systems used in mission-critical environments.

Odin Metrology utilizes advanced metrological standards to ensure the absolute reliability of sensors subjected to high mechanical stress. Our lineage, rooted in the factory-standard methodologies of Brüel & Kjær (B&K), allows us to provide specialized insight into complex vibration instrumentation that general-purpose labs cannot replicate.

Core Vibration Calibration Capabilities

  • Accelerometers: Precision calibration for Piezoelectric (Charge-mode) and IEPE/ICP® sensors. We verify sensitivity and frequency response to ensure signal integrity across the entire dynamic range.

  • Vibration Meters & Analyzers: Comprehensive verification of portable diagnostic meters and complex benchtop vibration analyzers.

  • Transducer Systems: Technical verification of velocity sensors and displacement probes to ensure accurate measurement of mechanical motion.

  • Excitation Systems: Precision calibration of handheld vibration calibrators and reference shakers used for field verification.

Technical Authority & Primary Standards

  • Laser Interferometry: To achieve the highest absolute accuracy, our primary reference standards for vibration are calibrated using the Laser Interferometer Accelerometer method.

  • Rigorous Uncertainty Baselines: Our vibration measurement uncertainty is maintained at ±1.0%, with laboratory references (100-400 Hz) held to a baseline of ±0.6%.

  • NASA-Validated Precision: Odin has actively participated in accelerometer calibration comparisons with the NASA AMAP Metrology Group in conjunction with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

  • The 4:1 Test Uncertainty Ratio (TUR): We adhere to a stringent 4:1 TUR baseline. Every certificate explicitly documents calculated uncertainties, ensuring your quality audits remain technically beyond reproach.

Signal Analysis

Deep-level verification of data acquisition (DAQ) and signal conditioning systems to ensure the accuracy of your complete measurement chain.

The accuracy of a sensor is only as reliable as the equipment analyzing its output. At Odin Metrology, we provide comprehensive verification of the analytical instrumentation that serves as the backbone of your research and development. Our technical staff boasts a combined experience of over 50 years, ensuring that your high-fidelity analyzers and mainframes are handled with expert-level precision.

Core Signal Analysis Capabilities

  • Analyzers: Full verification of FFT Analyzers and multi-channel data acquisition mainframes for amplitude, frequency, and phase accuracy.

  • Filters & Generators: Precision testing of 1/3 Octave Filter Sets and Sine/Random Noise Generators to ensure signal purity and compliance with international standards.

  • Signal Conditioning: Expert calibration of conditioning amplifiers, charge amplifiers, and preamplifiers to maintain signal integrity from the transducer to the analyzer.

  • AC Voltage Verification: For sinusoidal repetitive waveforms (10 mV to 1000 V), our measurement uncertainty is held to a rigorous ±0.01% from 10 Hz to 2 MHz.

Technical Authority & Precision Standards

  • Frequency Accuracy: We maintain a frequency measurement uncertainty of 0.01% across the range of 40 Hz to 10 MHz.

  • NIST-Traceable Documentation: Every calibration provides an unbroken chain of traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

  • Strict Adherence to OEM Specs: We strictly follow factory procedures and specifications, ensuring every instrument—from Brüel & Kjær to other Tier-1 manufacturers—is verified against the highest possible standards.

  • Inter-Laboratory Accountability: Our measurement integrity is validated through active participation in international inter-laboratory comparison programs, including comparisons with the B&K factory.
